Delano Bell

Bassoonist Delano Bell is an active performer and teacher who is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Stony Brook University and a music teacher at Success Academy in New York City. He has performed with orchestras around the country including the New Manhattan Sinfonietta, Boston Philharmonic, The Chelsea Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, Plymouth Philharmonic, Eugene Symphony, Central Oregon Symphony, The Du Bois Orchestra, ArtsEmerson, and the Long Island Festival Orchestra. Delano performed in the Varna International and Snow Pond Chamber Music festivals and was an orchestra fellow at the Fort Worth Symphony Conducting Institute. 

At Stony Brook University he earned the Dr. W. Burghardt Turner Fellowship and a music theory teaching assistantship. Delano holds a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory where he studied with Richard Ranti (associate principal bassoon, Boston Symphony Orchestra) and was an ensemble fellow in the NEC Community Performances and Partnerships program. Delano holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Oregon where he studied with Dr. Steve Vacchi (Eugene Symphony). His other teachers include Frank Morelli (Orpheus Chamber Orchestra), Judith LeClair (principal bassoon, New York Philharmonic), and Gina Cuffari (Orpheus Chamber Orchestra). 

As a conductor Delano has performed with the Stony Brook University Orchestra and the University of Oregon Trumpet Ensemble. He studied conducting with Miguel Harth-Bedoya at the Fort Worth Symphony Conducting Institute and Neil Varon (Eastman School Symphony Orchestra director) and David Jacobs (University of Oregon Symphony Orchestra director) at the University of Oregon Conducting Workshop.
